Good evening,
I am truly hoping for a FULL week of school! While we have been stuck inside a lot lately due to the weather, we have been busy learning about many things! Here is what we are working on this week:
Writing: Beginning prompt writing unit (see letter coming home Monday in the folders)
Reading: Making inferences, character traits, non-literal language
Spelling: continuing spelling sorts/activities, test will be in two weeks
Math: Geometric figures (lines, polygons, triangles, angles)
Science: ending the water cycle unit and beginning states of matter unit
A note about PRISM:
If you still need a box for your child's PRISM project, please contact me and I will send you an order form. The cost of the box is $3.00. (It is a standard white science fair project box). Projects will be due in February, please encourage your child to complete a portion of the project each week to avoid undue stress!
A note about Girls on the Run:
As some of you may have seen on the flyers, Long School will once again be participating in a wonderful program called Girls on the Run. The program is open to girls in grades 3-5 and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays right after school until approximately 4:30. This is not just a running program, and girls should not feel like they have to compete or be a great athlete in order to join! The program focuses on building self-esteem, promoting a positive body image, and empowering girls to become leaders! Registration is now open and will close on February 12, 2014 at 5:00 P.M. (they have strict deadlines and will not admit any girls after this time). The new season begins on February 19, I would love to have your daughter join our team at Long School. If you have any questions, please contact me!
Have a great week!
