Weekly Update

Good evening,

I am busy getting grades ready for report cards, so I will make this a short post! The end of first quarter is this Friday, October 18. School will be dismissed at 11:50 and no lunch will be served. With that being said, there is a Social Studies test on Wednesday and a Chapter 5 math test (Subtraction) this Friday. Students have had the same spelling words for a few weeks so we all felt ready to take the test this week also. Since we have tests this week and I am working on final grades, there will NOT be a progress report coming home this week.

Report cards will be e-mailed to you sometime on September 24 or 25th. In the past you have not received them until conferences, but now you will have them before hand. Keep in mind our conferences are the last week of October and I will be discussing your child's progress with you at that time. If you have not signed up for a conference, please do so immediately. If you need help, please let me know!

Here is what we are learning about this week:

Reading: Wondering/questioning, sequencing, cause and effect in non-fiction
Writing: personal narratives (developing the heart of the story)
Spelling: all groups will take tests this week
Math: Reviewing subtraction, chapter 5, TEST will be Friday, October 18
Social Studies: finishing group projects, reviewing continents, land forms and communities. Please review the study guide in the binder. TEST will be Wednesday, October 16.

Thanks and have a great week!
